FoneLink is discontinued

The development of FoneLink has been discontinued. As a result we only offer limited support for FoneLink.

Connection Wizard

Q: USB-Connection: Your phone is not listed / visible in connection window.

1. Please make sure you have selected the "Data transfer" / "Memory Card" mode on your phone for USB connections (You should also see your phone memory mounted in Apple Finder).

2. Please check the list of supported phones, and make sure your phone is supported over USB. (If your phone is not supported with USB mode, please contact our support)

Q: BLUETOOTH - Your phone is not listed / visible in connection window.

1. Please make sure you have activated Bluetooth on your phone and on your Mac

2. Your phone has to be visible for other devices
(Please check the Bluetooth settings on your phone)

Q: Your phone is listed in connection wizard, but it is marked as "Not reachable"

1.Please make sure you have activated Bluetooth on your phone and on your Mac

2. You can also try to delete the old Bluetooth pairing and pair your phone again:
a) Delete the pairing: Open Bluetooth in the System preferences, select your phone in the Bluetooth device list (if it is there) and click on "Delete".
b) Deactivate the bluetooth on your phone and your mac and switch the phone off, then take the batteries out for a few seconds.
c) Quit all other programs.
d) Reactive Bluetooth on the phone and the Mac.
e) Pair again: Choose "Set up Bluetooth device...", select your mobile and pair the Macintosh and the phone. Click through all dialogs by "Continue".
f) For better performance we suggest to authorize your Mac (allow automatic connections) on your phone (If you'll forget to accept it, this will cause the communication problems)

Q: You try to connect the phone using the wizard, but something goes wrong and you can not connect your phone.

Please try the Apple Bluetooth connection Wizard:
a) Delete the pairing: Open Bluetooth in the System preferences, select your phone in the Bluetooth device list (if it is there) and click on "Delete".
b) Deactivate the bluetooth on your phone and your mac and switch the phone off, then take the batteries out for a few seconds.
c) Quit all other programs.
d) Reactive Bluetooth on the phone and the Mac.
e) Pair again: Choose "Set up Bluetooth device...", select your mobile and pair the Macintosh and the phone. Click through all dialogs by "Continue".
f) For better performance we suggest to authorize your Mac (allow automatic connections) on your phone (If you'll forget to accept it, this will cause the communication problems)

Mobile Finder

Q: You click on smart folders on the left pane of Mobile Finder view, but nothing happens.

It is possible that your phone has a different folder structure. I this case you should configure the folders manually:
Please click on "Phone" in the menubar and select the "Phone Settings". A new window will appear. At "Folders" please select the folder you want to change and click on "Change Path...", select the path you want and click click on "Choose".

Q: No folders at all, new photos or other files are listed in Mobile Finder view.

For some phone models you have to enable bluetooth visibility for folders and files (e.g. most Samsung models). Please read the user manual for your phone model to get more information about it.

Q: You can not create a new folder on your phone. You get the "Bad Request Error"

Some cell phones do not allow to create new folders in the internal phone memory. In this case we suggest to use the memory card if possible.

Organizer

Q: You try to get you data (Contacts, Events, Notes or SMS) from your phone, but you get always an error message.

Please try to close the FoneLink (with Apple+Q) and other applications that could be connected to your phone, restart FoneLink and try again. If it will not help, then try to do the following:
a) Delete the pairing: Open Bluetooth in the System preferences, select your phone in the Bluetooth device list (if it is there) and click on "Delete".
b) Deactivate the bluetooth on your phone and your mac and switch the phone off, then take the batteries out for a few seconds.
c) Quit all other programs.
d) Reactive Bluetooth on the phone and the Mac.
e) Pair again: Choose "Set up Bluetooth device...", select your mobile and pair the Macintosh and the phone. Click through all dialogs by "Continue".
f) For better performance we suggest to authorize your Mac (allow automatic connections) on your phone (If you'll forget to accept it, this will cause the communication problems)

SyncManager

Q: You have enabled the synchronization of contacts and/or calendar and after you clicked on "Apply Sync" You see the the message "Please wait. Retrieving from SyncEngine" and nothing happens.

If you have many data in your Address Book and/or in iCal then it can take up to 5-10 min to get and prepare your data for synchronization. Please have some patience.

It is also possible that the main database (Truth-Database) on your system is damaged. In this case you can try to do the following:
1. Backup your Address Book and iCal data.
2. Close all applications.
3. Now delete the "SyncServices" folders in ~/Library/Application Support/
(The "~" represents the users home directory. This will delete only the Truth-Database, Address Book and iCal data will not be deleted.)
4. Empty your Trash.
5. Reboot your Mac (this is very IMPORTANT).
6. Start Address Book and iCal.
7. Now start FoneLink and activate the the SyncManager again. It should work fine now.

Q: My data was duplicated (Contacts and Events)

This can happen if you change the sync direction every time you sync your data or if there was a communication problem with your phone. To avoid this issue we suggest to use only one synchronization direction for every program launch, or to disable the SyncManager first and enable it again for the next synchronization session.

Q: How to remove the duplicates from my phone.

In most cases you'll have all you data in your Address Book, so you can just do the following.
1. Start FoneLink.
2. Go to Organizer and deactivate the SyncManager.
3. Now to Contacts and click on "Refresh from phone" (you'll get all you data from your phone)
4. Select all contacts (just hit "Apple"+"A" buttons on your keyboard) and hit the "Backspace" (delete) key.
5. Click on "Update with phone" in FoneLink (this will DELETE ALL CONTACTS on your phone)
6. Restart FoneLink (quit the application with "Apple"+"Q")
7. Now go to SyncManager again and enable the contacts synchronization.
8. Synchronize you data
You can do the same for your Calendar data.

Please click on "Phone" in the menubar and select the "Phone Settings". A new window will appear. At "Folders" please select the folder you want to change and click on "Change Path...", select the path you want and click click on "Choose".
